So I'm reading the news today and I find this crazy story about chameleons that glow under UV light (which we cannot see, but they can).
It says it's not the skin, but the bones that glow, and that the chameleons have bony outgrowths which allow for the glow to be visible to other chameleons. It even says:
"The trait shows up around the eyes and temporal regions most frequently, both areas commonly associated with communication in chameleons, they say, and males seem to have more of the bony bumps that cause the glow, indicating that it probably plays a role in mating as well."
